Organic Synthesis Laboratory

Aim:

The need of "custom made" material is common in the nanotechnology science
and in many cases a major part of the research.
The organic synthetic labs were established as a part of the IKI center
in order to provide its members the accessibility to designed organic material.

Description:

The synthetic lab possesses two fields of activities
(i) Synthesis of "custom made" organic materials
and (ii) "Living" polymerization.

(i)                 Organic Synthesis lab: Design and synthesis of requested organic material
according to literature as well as newly developed materials.

(ii)               Polymerization lab: Synthesis of well define polymers (homopolymers and block copolymers)
based on "living" polymerization techniques (anionic and radical).

Modes of activities:

There are several available modes of collaborations between the lab and the IKI research groups

(i)                 Design and synthesis: The design and rationalization of the target materials
is performed in collaboration with the researcher, synthesis is performed completely by the synthetic lab.

(ii)               Assistance and facilities: The lab offers assistance for members that perform their own synthesis.
Students can get guidance and support when needed.

(iii)             Consultancy: We are here to help in any question you have that related to organic synthesis
