Management

The NIBN implements a novel form of organization and independent governance. 

Director Prof. Varda Shoshan-Barmatz

The Director is responsible for ensuring the ongoing operation of the NIBN in terms of its research programs and budget. Prof. Shoshan-Barmatz, The Hyman Kreitman Chair in Bioenergetics and former head of the Department of Life Sciences, was appointed NIBN Director in July 2006, having been involved in the NIBN from its earliest stages and having previously served as Deputy-Director for three years prior to her present appointment as Director.

International Scientific Advisory Board (SAB)

The NIBN has an International Scientific Advisory Board (SAB) of independent, internationally renowned experts. The SAB is responsible for the definition of the NIBN's goals, including the specialization fields of research at the NIBN, setting the academic and professional goals and standards of the NIBN and for the evaluation of the NIBN programs and members.

Executive Committee
The Executive Committee convenes regularly throughout the year to discuss operational, administrative and finance issues.
