
The Computation Center provides computing communication and consultation services to staff, students and administration. A wide variety of operating systems (Windows, MACOS, UNIX, VMS and VM) guarantees effortless cooperation with co-researchers and industry all over the world. The Center has two supercomputers, an IBM SP2 and a Cray, which provide the large memory and fast execution time necessary for state-of-the-art computing.
Ben-Gurion University is part of Israel’s Universities Metropolitan Area Network. The campus is linked by Ethernet, Novell and AppleTalk networks.
Public facilities with more than 600 PCs and X-terminals are available to students, many on a 24-hours a day, 7-days a week basis. There are also 150 dormitory rooms that have communication ports with access to the internet, allowing students with personal computers to share the academic network as well as maintain email contact. The university email server – bgumail - is available to all university staff and students.
