Security Informatics and Terrorism-Patrolling the Web

Terrorist organizations use the Web as their infrastructure for various purposes.

Due to its ubiquitous availability and the ease of publishing information on the Web,

terrorists increasingly exploit the Internet as a communication,

intelligence, and propaganda tool by which they can safely communicate with their affiliates,

coordinate action plans, raise funds, and introduce new supporters into their networks.

The number of terrorist-generated web sites
is increasing rapidly and they are becoming very difficult to track.
Therefore, patrolling the Web for identification of terrorists and
terror-related activities is becoming a major goal in counterterrorism.
