Welcome!

This website of the Industrial Engineering &Management (IEM) Department will help you become

familiar with the different educational programs, faculty members and scope of quality research conducted at IEM.

Established in 1969, today the IEM Department has 35 faculty members who serve about 800 undergraduate students and 250 graduate students, 200 toward a master degree and 50

toward a doctorate degree. In addition to teaching and research responsibilities, IEM faculty members are also involved in the continuing development of the university and in numerous endeavors at both national and international levels, including prevention of road accidents and increasing traffic safety, advancement of quality standards, improvement of the healthcare system, enhancement of academic quality, promoting technological advances in security and defense, and encouragement of

youth entrepreneurship.

An international evaluation committee rated the IEM Department among the world leaders in the field, praising its educational programs and students, its advanced teaching and research laboratories, and its

excellence in collaborative academic pursuit with researchers at leading research institutes around the world.

Studies toward an undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in Industrial Engineering and Management comprise three levels, the first of which builds a robust engineering foundation based on mathematics, physics, computer science, and engineering. This foundation paves the way for a second level that

teaches the student advanced analytical techniques including operations research, statistics, information systems, and management sciences. At the third level, and especially when embarking upon their fourth year final projects, students cope with integration and creative application of the first

two levels in industry and business, both individually and in teams. This third level is supported by the department’s research laboratories. The IEM Department encourages outstanding undergraduate students to participate in research in accelerated tracks toward graduate programs.

Graduate (M.Sc. and Ph.D.) studies are carried out under the guidance of faculty members and are based primarily on academic research with the goal of publishing the final results in leading scientific journals. Students are offered a wide range of programs to choose from. A substantial portion of the research is undertaken in cooperation with leading national and international universities and companies.

Graduates of the department either continue in the forefront of research at leading national and international universities or work in a variety of professional and management positions in Israel and abroad, achieving leadership in a wide range of fields scattered throughout the market. Many

have established successful startup companies.

The Department of Industrial Engineering and Management is developing at an accelerated pace and continues to search for young, promising researchers to enrich its academic staff and promote its exciting research vision. Part of that process entails expanding its graduate research programs, improving the foundation of its unique laboratory facilities, redesigning its educational programs for tomorrow’s challenges, contributing to national endeavors, cementing the connection with its

alumni, and deepening cooperation with industry.

As such, the IEM Department is devoted to nurturing cutting-edge researchers and welcomes with equal vigor both potential applicants interested in joining our department as well as proposals aimed at

cooperative ventures.

Department Chair
