It was difficult to find an empty seat at the June 2 event at Ben-Gurion House in Tel Aviv. The discussion was devoted to the topic "Syria After Hafez Assad". Among the participants were Prof. Moshe Maoz from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Dr. Reuven Ehrlich, the author of " In the Lebanon Entanglement", and Reserve General Meir Dagan, former advisor to the Prime Minister on the war on terror.
The speakers examined recent political, military, and policy developments in Syria. This discussion served as background to a fascinating lecture given by Reserve General Uri Saguy, head of the negotiating team at the Israeli-Syrian peace talks. General Saguy described Israeli- Syrian relations in depth. The lively discussion, which included audience participation, was led by Amir Oren of Ha'Aretz.
